Meet Paula Downey

Meet Paula Downey, founder of The Compliance Consultant.

Paula’s background uniquely equips The Compliance Consultant to assist our clients to resolve even the most difficult regulatory questions.

She has extensive experience in interpreting and implementing regulatory change, analysing and managing risk, building working relationships with key stakeholders and regulators, and providing advice to businesses. She is an engaging and effective presenter and trainer.

Paula has 25 years industry experience and prior to establishing The Compliance Consultant, held executive roles in financial services, including 15 years with Davy Stockbrokers as Head of Compliance and as Business and Legal Director. While at Davy she held a number of directorships and continues to be a non-executive director of J&E Davy (UK) Limited.

Paula was also Head of Compliance at Pershing Securities International Limited and ABN Amro Stockbrokers (Ireland) Limited and Trustee/Head of Compliance at HSBC Securities Services.

Paula was a Director in KPMG’s Regulatory Advisory practice (having also qualified as an accountant with the firm) and in that capacity advised clients across a broad range of industries including funds, insurance and banking.

Paula holds a law degree (L.LB) from Trinity College Dublin. She is a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland (FCA) and of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (FCSI). She is a Registered Stockbroker and an Approved Product Adviser (APA) in Securities & Investments; Life Assurance, Housing Loans, Home Reversion Agreements and Associated Insurances, Consumer Credit Agreements and Associated Insurances.
